The Foundation for Retirement Homes of the City of Zurich is a foundation of the City of Zurich that aims to rent inexpensive apartments to residents over 60. In addition, the foundation offers social and nursing services in its retirement homes. The foundation has around 2,000 apartments in 34 settlements, making it the largest of its kind in Switzerland .

The aim of the foundation is to give elderly people the opportunity to live independently in their apartments with the help of basic and optional benefits. The basic and optional services include, among other things, the foundation's own house maintenance , its own Spitex , 24-hour on- call service , social service to support the regulation of personal or official matters, laundry service and events.

The foundation was established in 1950 by the city of Zurich and is organized in the form of a public law institution with its own legal personality and its own account. It is affiliated with the Health and Environment Department of the City of Zurich. The highest foundation body is the foundation council , consisting of the head of the municipal health and environmental department as president, currently Claudia Nielsen , and ten other members elected by the city council.
