Charité Foundation

The Charité Foundation is an independent and non-profit German foundation under civil law. It was founded in 2005 by Johanna Quandt . Its purpose is to support the Berlin University Medicine ( Charité ). The focus here is in particular on promoting the transfer of research between laboratory and clinic as well as improving the framework conditions for innovation and entrepreneurship in medicine. The foundation supports people, investments and structural measures as well as projects in several programs. It does not disclose anything on the relevant website about the current amount of the foundation's assets (its capital stock). When it was founded, the endowment was € 5 million. According to its own information, the foundation approved a total funding volume of over € 3.5 million in 2014.

The foundation awards u. a. the Max Rubner Prize endowed with a total of 100,000 euros .

The foundation's board members are Jörg Appelhans and Jürgen Zöllner , and Detlev Ganten is chairman of the foundation board .
