The KalkGestalten Foundation is a community foundation in the Cologne-Kalk district , which includes the districts of Brück , Höhenberg , Humboldt / Gremberg , Kalk , Merheim , Neubrück , Ostheim , Rath / Heumar and Vingst .

The aim of the foundation is to win as many citizens, companies, local institutions and associations as possible to volunteer or provide financial support in order to promote design and development in the district and the city districts and to implement projects. Endowments and donations are intended to enable the foundation to successfully launch local projects. The foundation is not economically, religiously or politically bound.

Projects from education and upbringing, youth welfare, care for the elderly and welfare, art, culture and sport, environmental protection, landscape protection, monument protection and home preservation as well as international understanding can be supported.

Foundation, name, seat and legal form

The foundation was established on July 6, 2005 and recognized on October 11, 2005 by the Ministry of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia. It bears the name KalkGestalten, based in Cologne-Kalk and is written as a foundation under civil law. Julius Knappertsbusch has been Chairman of the Board of Trustees since 2005.

Projects

  • KalkBlüh supports the initiative of the citizens of Kalk in the improvement of the district and the maintenance of the townscape, especially on Kalker Hauptstrasse. Tree beds are planted and cared for from donations.
  • KalkFörderung: According to its statutes, the foundation supports charitable initiatives from different areas in the Kalk district. One call for applications takes place every year. The maximum amount of funding for a project is 3000 €.
  • KalkKunst: Since 2005 the foundation has been organizing the KalkKunst for 14 days every autumn. Works of art are shown in shops, banks, social institutions and public buildings. The exhibition is accompanied by a supporting program with vernissages , art walks, artists 'lounges, artists' breakfasts and the like. The KalkKunst is opened every year in the Cologne police headquarters. In addition to established artists, KalkKunst also offers ambitious amateur artists and self-taught people a platform to present their works to the public.
  • KalkLiest is a program to promote reading in the Kalk district. The focus is on promoting reading for children and young people.
  • KalkMusik is a funding program for making music. The permanent loan of a piano initiates concerts and courses for those interested in music.

Awards

Since the year it was founded, the foundation has received the seal of approval from the Federal Association of German Foundations every two years. She has also been a signatory of the Transparent Civil Society Initiative since 2011 . In 2012, the foundation was recognized for its voluntary work at the Come Together Cup . On March 25, 2014, the foundation received first prize in the ideas competition "Bridge Between Cultures" of the Herbert Quandt Foundation and the Community Foundation Initiative. The reasoning of the jury is: 1. target group-oriented work, 2. addressing at eye level and 3. the community foundation as a learning organization.
