Alexander Vogel
Alexander Vogel (born May 22, 1698 in Sagan , Lower Silesia , † September 19, 1756 in Wondreb ) was a German clergyman and abbot of the Waldsassen monastery from 1744 to 1756.
Alexander Vogel entered the Waldsassen monastery in 1717 . After successful studies he worked there as a professor and parish vicar in Wondreb . As a client, he implemented various building projects, including the Fischhof Bridge by the builder Philipp Muttone . Particularly noteworthy is the furnishing of the Gnadenkapelle in Tirschenreuth and the Waldsassen collegiate basilica with four more catacomb saints , which were acquired after negotiations with Rome. From 1750 onwards, unfounded allegations of paternity forced him to let his office rest, in 1754 he was completely rehabilitated, and in poor health he withdrew to Wondreb, where he died in 1756. He found his final resting place in the crypt of the collegiate church. The convent erected a mourning pyramid in his memory , which has been handed down as a copper engraving.
