The Stiftland Museum is located in Waldsassen , Tirschenreuth district in the Upper Palatinate . This local history museum , which was opened in 1975, was owned by the Gerwigkreis e. V. was founded in the Oberpfälzer Waldverein in Waldsassen and shows in 56 departments a clear overview of the difficult life of the subjects of the Waldsassen monastery and in the Stiftland in the past centuries. There are also numerous exhibits on the cultural and historical past of the Stiftland, the city and the Waldsassen monastery. The museum also shows one of the largest collections of old workshops in the Upper Palatinate with the handicraft tools used at the time, but now almost forgotten. Also worth mentioning is an impressive collection of minerals from the geologically interesting area of ​​the northern Upper Palatinate and the Egerland , which is characterized by volcanism and which the poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe researched and reported on during his stays in Franzensbad, Marienbad and Karlsbad.
