Foundation winery Freiburg
The Stiftungsweingut Freiburg is owned by the Heiliggeistspitalstiftung Freiburg and cultivates vineyards in and around Freiburg im Breisgau and is based in the Jesuit Castle in Merzhausen . It was mentioned in a document in 1298.
Emergence
The benefactors of the Heiliggeistspital Freiburg received care when they transferred vineyards and other assets to the hospital. Until 1803 the hospital and winery were on Freiburg's Münsterplatz . The winery has been located in the Jesuit Castle in Merzhausen since 1895.
Locations
The wines are grown on 16 hectares. The locations are Tuniberg, Freiburg Castle Mountain , Freiburg Jesuit Castle , Niederrimsingen.
As varieties cultivated are Pinot Noir , Merlot , Chasselas , Rivaner , Müller-Thurgau , Pinot Gris , Pinot Blanc , Chardonnay , Muscat , Riesling . The Freiburg Minster Edition supports the Freiburg Minster Building Association and thus the preservation of the minster.
