LZ 42

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Zeppelin LZ 42 was Count Zeppelin's 42nd airship and the twentieth airship of the German Army .

history

The first run of LZ 42 took place on June 15, 1915. The army took over the airship under the military ID LZ 72.

LZ 42 was the army's first airship with the new tactical designation system used by the land forces for zeppelins. Each new army zeppelin was now assigned to the construction number of the zeppelin factory "30", which means for LZ 42 that the ship received the army identification LZ 72.

The aluminum alloy used in the construction of LZ 42 was of very poor quality. There were broken girders in the skeleton of the ship. That is why the zeppelin was only used in school.

Whereabouts

LZ 42 was decommissioned in February 1917 and disarmed on February 16, 1917.
