The Zeppelin LZ 39 was Count Zeppelin's 39th airship and the nineteenth airship of the German army .

history

The first trip from LZ 39 took place on April 24, 1915.

LZ 39 arrived on the western front in early May 1915 and was stationed alternately in Düsseldorf , Brussels-Agathe and Namur . The airship attacked Calais once and dropped 900 kg bombs on Harwich on the night of June 6th, 1915 . LZ 39 escaped the attack of an English aircraft only by escaping into a smoke screen.

At the end of July 1915, the zeppelin moved to the Eastern Front with its locations in Schneidemühl , Allenstein , Posen and Warsaw and launched bombings against Russian targets.

End of LZ 39

In an attack on Rowno on December 17, 1915 , LZ 39 was so badly damaged by defensive fire that the ship tilted in the air and the engine compartment of the front nacelle broke out and crashed. An emergency landing succeeded at Luck . The airship was so badly damaged that it was disarmed.
