The Zeppelin LZ 27 was Count Zeppelin's 27th airship and the fourth airship of the Imperial Navy .

The first trip from LZ 27 took place on August 18, 1914. The navy took over the airship under the military ID L 4.

The airship was relocated to Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel for its war missions . In the winter of 1914/15, L 4 made reconnaissance trips over the North Sea. Together with L 3 , L 4 attacked the east coast of England on the night of January 19-20, 1915. Despite fog, rain and strong defensive fire, targets in Yarmouth , Cromer , Sheringham and King's Lynn were bombed from different heights . It was the first naval airship raid on England.

During a reconnaissance voyage on February 17, 1915, L 4 was surprised by a heavy snow storm and finally had to make an emergency landing in a storm at Blavandshuk on the Danish coast due to a lack of fuel . The crew jumped out of the zeppelin, but four men did not jump out of the ship, which was rising again due to the loss of weight of those who jumped off, were carried by the zeppelin and were lost with the airship. According to international law, the occupation was interned in neutral Denmark until the end of the war.
