Stig Østergaard Nielsen

Stig Østergaard Nielsen (born August 31, 1954 ) is a Danish major general a. D. of the Danish Air Force .

Life

Østergaard Nielsen completed the Flyvevåbnets Officersskole , the General Staff Course of the Danish Armed Forces and the NATO Defense Course and the Royal College of Defense Studies in London. He served in the Danish Air Force for over forty years. From 1999 to 2003 Østergaard Nielsen was in command of Karup Air Force Base , and from 2003 to 2004 in command of Værløse Base . From 2005 to 2009 he was in command of the Flyvertaktisk command in Karup and was replaced by Henrik Røboe Dam . From 2009 to 2012 he was in command of the Combined Air Operations Center of NATO in Finderup . Most recently he was in command of the newly created Arktisk Command from 2012 to October 2015 . He was replaced by Kim Jesper Jørgensen . Since his retirement he has worked for the consulting firm Rud Pedersen.
