Stillwell Island is a small, steep-walled and rocky island with a diameter of 400 m off the George V coast in the Australian Antarctic Territory . It is the largest island in the Way archipelago and is located 2.5 km northeast of Garnet Point in the western part of the entrance to Watt Bay .
They were discovered by participants in the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911–1914) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson . Mawson named it after the Australian geologist Frank Leslie Stillwell (1888-1963), who was involved in this research trip and in the survey of this stretch of coast.
