The Garnet Point (English for garnet headland ) is a rocky headland made of garnet gneiss on the East Antarctic George V coast . It is on the west side of the entrance to Watt Bay .
The cape was discovered during the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson . It got its descriptive name from the Australian geologist Frank Leslie Stillwell (1888-1963), participant of the expedition and leader of the team that geologically explored the Cape.
