Stankow first took part in natural tobogganing competitions in 1999, but only competed in a few international races. Only in the 2007/2008 season did he start three times in the World Cup . With 28th place in Moos in Passeier , 29th place in the second race in Umhausen and 30th place in Latsch , he achieved placements in the bottom field. In the overall World Cup, he finished 37th out of a total of 46 tobogganers who won World Cup points this winter, tied with Italian Florian Clara .
