The Stok Palace , Stog Palace or Tog Palace ( Tib. STog pho brang ) or Stok Gompa (Stok Monastery, Tog Monastery) etc. is a palace or monastery of Tibetan Buddhism in the Leh administrative district of Ladakh in the Indus Valley in northern India , approx. 15 km south of Leh , the capital of Ladakh. The complex dates back to the 14th century and was founded by Lama Lhawang Lotus . It is famous for a manuscript of Kanjur from the Drugpa Kagyu School , which is now also available in print and named after the palace . A ritual dance mask festival takes place here every year.

The palace serves as the current residence of the former Ladakh royal family, currently it is occupied by the widow of the last king Singe Namgyal of Ladakh, who died in 1974. The palace itself was built in 1825 by King Tsepal Tondup Namgyal ( tshes dpal don grub rnam rgyal ), and its main building is five stories high. It houses a museum in which exhibits from the royal collection can be viewed.
