Storchenhaus (Blankenburg)
The Storchenhaus is a listed villa in the town of Blankenburg (Harz) in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located north of the old town of Blankenburg on the east side of Herzogstraße, south of the confluence with Hospitalstraße at the address Herzogstraße 16a . To the north is the Georgenhof .
Architecture and history
The villa was built in the Art Nouveau style around 1905 . It has a representative design and is lavishly decorated with relief jewelry. In 1907 the doctor Hans Ewh bought the building and also took over a doctor's practice already set up by the previous owner. The name of the villa goes back to a figure of a stork attached to the roof of the house , which is said to refer to the use of doctors practicing in the villa in obstetrics . Ewh later became the court doctor of Duke Ernst August . He died in 1919. Ewh's wife was of Jewish descent. She and his daughter were killed in the Theresienstadt concentration camp in 1944 .
