The Storglomvassdamm is a dam with a gravel dam in the municipality of Meløy in Fylke Nordland , Norway. The dam was built by Statkraft between 1993 and 1998 as part of the Svartisen energy development .

dam

The dam is approx. 820 meters long, 125 meters high (other information: 128 m) and 365 meters thick at the base. It consists of 5.3 million cubic meters of stone and gravel. The dam has an asphalt core (22,500 m³), which was prospected by the industrial company Veidekke . The width of the asphalt core is 0.50 to 0.95 m. A filter material with a grain size of 0–60 mm is arranged on both sides of the asphalt in the core . At its other end, the reservoir is bounded by another dam, the "Holmvassdammen".

Hydroelectric power plant

The hydropower plant generates electricity with an output of 372 megawatts.

Reservoir

Storglomvatnet reservoir

The Storglomvatn (et) reservoir is Norway's 52nd largest lake with an area of 28.59 square kilometers . It has a storage capacity of 3.5 billion m³. Its average water depth is derived from this: 3500 / 28.59 = 122.4 m. The reservoir is thus one of the reservoirs with the greatest average depth in the world.
