The Strait of Rhodes ( Greek Στενό της Ρόδου Steno tis Rodou ( n. Sg. )) Is the easternmost of the six straits that connect the Aegean Sea with the Mediterranean . At the same time, the state border between Greece and Turkey runs in the strait of the sea.

On the north side is the Greek island of Symi and the Bozburun Peninsula in Asia Minor ( Bozburun Yarımadasının in Turkish ) in the Mugla province and south of it the eponymous Greek island of Rhodes . Administratively, the Greek islands belong to the South Aegean region .

The shortest distance from Kremasti in the municipality of Petaloudes on Rhodes, to the coast of Asia Minor is a little more than 18 km, the maximum depth is 350 m.
