The Dieburger Strasse road bridge is a road bridge over the Odenwaldbahn in Darmstadt-Nord .
Construction and history
The bridge was originally a paved concrete bridge with three cap vaults over the Odenwaldbahn, which has been running in the cut of the terrain here since 1871. The decorative sandstone pillars and the original iron grating of the railing have been preserved.
The structure, a segmented arch bridge made of concrete with two openings, was probably built before 1910 for the old route along the Ringstrasse; the vault has been preserved here. However, it was already set up for the bend of the railway line to the north that took place in 1910 in connection with the planning of the new stations.
Monument protection
The Dieburger Strasse road bridge is an important historical route connection between Darmstadt and Dieburg . The road bridge was placed under monument protection as a typical example of the technology of the 1900s in Darmstadt .
