The North district in Darmstadt refers to the district that connects to Darmstadt city center in the northwest .
This area is divided into the statistical districts Johannesviertel , Martinsviertel East and West, Waldkolonie , Mornewegviertel , Pallaswiesenviertel and Am Ziegelbusch . Johannesviertel
The Johannesviertel is bordered to the west and north by Kasinostrasse, to the east by Frankfurterstrasse and to the south by Bismarckstrasse. It is therefore adjacent to the Martinsviertel and Pallaswiesenviertel. In the south, the district borders the city center.
Martinsviertel
The Martinsviertel is bordered to the west by Frankfurter Strasse, to the east by Dieburger Strasse, and to the north by Rhönring and Spessartring. It is one of the older districts of Darmstadt and was originally a settlement outside the city walls.
Mornewegviertel
The Mornewegviertel borders the main train station in the west , Rheinstrasse in the south, Steubenplatz in the east and Bismarckstrasse in the north, between Dolivostrasse and Kirschenallee. In addition, the rail areas between Rheinstrasse and Pallaswiesenstrasse are in this statistical district.
prostitution
In Darmstadt there is a restricted area ordinance which forbids pursuing street prostitution . A tolerance area within the quarter is excluded from this regulation. On October 31, 2003, the Hessian Administrative Court ruled that this regulation of April 4, 2000 is lawful. This was checked at the request of two companies that border the tolerance zone. The reason for this regulation is given in a statement dated December 22, 2003: "The regulation exempts a specified area (tolerance area) around Bismarckstrasse and Kirschenallee from this prohibition. The Darmstadt regional council had issued the restricted area regulation at the suggestion of the city of Darmstadt which the ordinance considered necessary in particular to protect the citizens living in Feldbergstrasse / Mornewegstrasse and the street in Niederfeld more effectively from the negative effects of street prostitution to be found there. "
Residents and local companies like Evonik Industries near the street are complaining about the effects. In a newspaper article from the Darmstädter Echo on October 5, 2012, reputational damage and dirt like used condoms were named.
Pallaswiesenviertel
This statistical district is bounded in the south by Bismarckstrasse, in the east by Kasinostrasse and Frankfurter Strasse, in the north by Arheilgen and in the west by rail surfaces and the outer border of Darmstadt.

Am Ziegelbusch is the statistical district north of the Martinsviertel , it is restricted to the south by the Rhönring, to the west by Frankfurter Strasse, to the east by the railway line and to the north by the districts of Arheilgen and Kranichstein .
