The forest colony is a statistical district in Darmstadt . The statistical district with this name is precisely defined (see list of districts of Darmstadt ). This is located north of Rheinstrasse, south of Graefenhäuser Strasse and west of the main train station and the track area there ( Main-Neckar-Eisenbahn ). In the west, Griesheim and Weiterstadt join the area. The statistical district forest colony has an area of ​​448.2 ha and 5781 inhabitants (December 31, 2017).

In the years 1911 and 1912 the first settlements took place here in the form of a railroad workers' settlement.

In the statistical district there is also the Tann settlement, which is located south of the Darmstadt motorway triangle ( 49.87 °  N , 8.6 °  E ).
