The Europaviertel in Darmstadt is a quarter to the west of the main train station ; it borders on Rheinstrasse in the south and on the development of Traubenweg in the north. The Europaviertel has an area of approx. 17 hectares, is located in the north part of the city and belongs to the statistical district of forest colony . In addition to commercial space, several residential construction projects have been implemented in recent years. This is how the epsilon was created opposite the Esoc. Another residential complex is the Philox.

Emergence

In 1996 an urban planning competition was carried out, as the vacated areas of an area owned by Robert Bosch GmbH made it possible to reorganize the area in terms of urban planning. In 2000, the railway gallery at the main station was completed; it is an extension of the train station, which has thus been given an entrance on the west side. Europaplatz was created in 2003 directly in front of the new entrance.

Facilities in the Europaviertel

The ESOC (European Space Operations Center) has been located here since 1967 , and all ESA satellites are operated from there . In 1998 the TIZ (Technology and Innovation Center) Darmstadt was founded here.
