Manor Strandet

The Strandet Manor was built in 1798. The building was constructed in a simple classical style and has a hipped roof made of red bricks. The facade is plastered white. On the north side of the building there is a spacious courtyard, which is surrounded by farm buildings from the 19th century. Various historical details have been preserved inside, including a knight's hall on the upper floor. Strandet is beautifully situated on a range of hills on the west side of the Hjarbækfjord.

history

The Strandet estate is older than the current manor house and belonged to various members of the influential Kaas family in the 15th and 16th centuries. In 1751 it came into the possession of the French-born nobleman Pierre la Cour, who is considered the progenitor of the Danish part of the Dornonville de la Cour family.

In the 1990s, Strandet was in a state of advanced decay after numerous changes of ownership. A renovation lasting several years around the turn of the millennium saved the manor house.

Today Strandet is used by a social institution that accommodates young people with social problems.

The Strandet manor is a listed building .
