Coordinates: 33 ° 52 ′ S , 151 ° 6 ′ E The Municipality of Strathfield is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . Strathfield is part of the metropolis of Sydney , the capital of New South Wales. The area is 14.0 km² and has about 40,000 inhabitants.
Strathfield is located on the west end of Inner Sydney about 7 miles west of the city center. The area includes 13 neighborhoods: Flemington, Flemington Markets, Homebush South, Homebush West, Strathfield West and parts of Belfield, Enfield, Enfield South, Greenacre, Homebush, Strathfield, North Strathfield and Strathfield South. The council's headquarters are in Strathfield, in the center of the LGA.

The Strathfield Municipal Council has nine members who are elected by LGA residents. Strathfield is not divided into districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
