Strathnairn is a district of the Belconnen district of the Australian capital Canberra . The suburb was released in 2016 as part of the West Belconnen / Parkwood cross-border development near the Australian Capital Territory and the New South Wales border. The origin of the suburb name comes from the historic Strathnairn Homestead. Strathnairn was created as pastureland by Captain Charles Sturt in the 1920s. The property was known as the Strathnairn in 1934 and was managed by the Baird family until 1974. The property has been used as a communal art facility since 1977.

Strathnairn is west of the suburb of Holt. The development is expected to encompass residential construction, retail and municipal infrastructure. Strathnairn has also been designated as a cat protection zone.
