W. Donald Brewer

William Donald Brewer (born March 19, 1912 in Nashtown, Kentucky; died April 30, 1978 in Englewood, Colorado) was an American government employee . From 1970 to 1974 he was a member of the Interstate Commerce Commission regulator .

Life

W. Donald Brewer started out as a postman in Kentucky in 1933 and worked his way up the corporate ladder. From November 1953, he headed a regional division of the post office in Kentucky with responsibility for 44 counties. From 1955 he headed a regional division in Denver (Colorado).

From April 1961 to February 1963 he was an advisor to the President of Western Bank in Los Angeles. From 1963 to 1968 he was President of OK Rubber & Tire Company in Denver, Colorado. He then worked for the Ashland Oil & Refining Company. He also sat on the supervisory boards of several companies.

As vice chairman of the National Finance Committee Nixon for President and as chairman of the Republican National Finance Committee, he was a key person in raising funds for Richard Nixon's 1968 presidential campaign. He worked with Maurice Stans , among others .

From April to August 1969, he was the federal administration-appointed co-chairman of the Four Corners Regional Commission . He then became a senior department head in the Small Business Administration . From August he held this position temporarily and from October 2, 1969 with Senate confirmation. During this time, conflicts arose with the head of the agency Hilary J. Sandoval Jr.

On May 16, 1970 he was nominated by President Richard Nixon as a Republican for the seat of Paul J. Tierney on the Interstate Commerce Commission for a term ending December 31, 1976. He took office on July 23, 1970. On June 30, 1974, he resigned during the Watergate Affair . He was succeeded by Robert J. Corber .

He was married to Lena Catherine Hickerson and had one son.
