Belconnen is a municipality in Canberra , the capital of Australia . It is 129.6 km² and includes 25 districts with a total of 86,189 inhabitants (2003). Belconnen is northwest of the city center and surrounds the man-made lake Lake Ginninderra on Ginninderra Creek, which flows into the Molonglo River . Most of the districts were built between 1967 and 1974, and a few were added by 1994.
