development and construction

The Stratus EA 81 is a water-cooled four - stroke four-cylinder boxer engine with a nominal output of 100  HP (74  kW ) at a nominal speed of 5400 min −1 . It is based on the Subaru EA-81 vehicle engine . The high speed of the motor is reduced to a level suitable for the propeller by means of a propeller gear - in this case a belt gear . The engine block is made of aluminum .

The engine can be equipped with a single or double carburetor or with an injection system. The ignition takes place via a single or optionally double electronic ignition system.
