Straubing calendar

The Straubinger calendar is a home calendar for Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate . It was published in 2016 in its 420th year, making it Germany's oldest home calendar.

history

The origin of the calendar goes back to the year 1597. At that time, the Straubing book printer Jakob Summer is said to have created the first calendar. Since 1860 he has been part of the CI. Attkofer'schen Kunst- und Buchdruckerei published. The oldest surviving copy from 1765 is in the city archive in Straubing .

Exterior

The calendar is bound in a soft cover and has a length of 288 pages. A picture of the Nesselmadonna from the Carmelite Monastery of Straubing and a historical copper engraving of the city of Straubing with the river paddle steamer Ludwig are printed on the title page .

The first part of the calendar consists of the calendar, time and festival calculations, feast days of the Jewish calendar, address of the church authorities, perpetual calendar , measure and weight units and pregnancy calendar for useful pets.

The second part of the calendar consists of stories, poems, drawings and photos with mostly homeland-related content. These mostly come from private individuals who are revised by the editorial team.

The third part consists of a market directory for the Lower Bavaria and Upper Palatinate region and postal tariffs.
