Streem is a Berlin art magazine. It is the first street magazine in Germany that is available free of charge to needy and homeless people. It offers a forum for ambitious artists and is supported by well-known personalities. Streem is primarily intended to appeal to young people.

history

The forerunner of the Streem is the Streetmag , which appeared from February 2011 about every three months with a circulation of 20,000 copies. The magazine was founded by Aleksandar Vidojkovic and Marija Stojanovic, and it was printed by the Berlin newspaper printing company . Support receives the magazine u. a. from the Berlin art association GeniusArt-Corp. e. V. A partner in the implementation, promotion and editorial contributions is the radio station FluxFM .

Simultaneous distribution in Stuttgart was not approved in 2012, and competition with the street newspaper Trott-war , which appears there, was feared.

After six issues, the Streetmag project was discontinued in February 2013. From December 2013 the magazine will appear under the new name. Marija Stojanovic is now the sole publisher and editor-in-chief. In 2014 there were four issues with a print run of 20,000 copies each.

layout

Streem is supported by socially committed Berliners with contributions from authors, painters, photographers, illustrators, filmmakers and the like. a. designed free of charge, a new team should take over the layout for all three issues.

financing

The magazine is financed through income from charity events as well as advertising income, advertisements and a limited number of subscriptions (as of December 2014).

distribution

The magazine is sold in Berlin mainly by homeless or destitute people, who should benefit from the full proceeds (recommended price: 1.50 euros) to support them in their difficult life situation.
