The strip-faced narrow-foot pouch mouse ( Sminthopsis macroura ) is a species of marsupial from the genus of narrow-foot pouch mice that is endemic to Australia .

description

The head body length is 75 - 98 mm, the tail is 80 to 100 mm long. The length of an ear is between 17 and 18 mm. The weight of S. macroura varies between 15 and 25 g. A dark stripe runs between the ears to the nose. The tail serves as a pad of fat and is quite thick at the base, but becomes narrower as the end increases.

distribution and habitat

The habitat of this predator stretches in Central Australia from Pilbarra to Central and Central Queensland and far into the Northern Territory . S. macroura inhabits sandy soils, grassy hilly lands, and bushland.

Reproduction

The breeding season is from July to February, the gestation period is eleven days. The 6 to 8 boys live in their mother's pouch for the first 40 days of their lives and are weaned at 70 days. Usually a female litters twice a season.
