The striped rowing snake ( Hydrophis cyanocinctus ) is one of the sea ​​snakes within the family of poisonous snakes (Elapidae) .

description

The striped row snake reaches a maximum length of 200 cm, mostly between 130 and 160 cm. The basic color is a light white to gray, from the head to the flattened, rudder-like tip of the tail, dark blue stripes can be seen. In the upper jaw of the very poisonous snake there are two stuck poisonous teeth about one centimeter long. The head is only slightly separated from the body and is quite small compared to the body. The striped row snake has a very potent snake venom , biting accidents when emptying fishing nets have serious consequences and can be fatal.

The striped row snake has a large distribution area. It occurs in the Persian Gulf , the Indian Ocean and the Pacific as far as Japan . It is one of the sea snakes that live in coastal waters. There she hunts for smaller fish , especially eel-like fish , between rocks or corals .
