The Streitenberger Kliff is a steeply sloping cliff in Marie-Byrd Land in western Antarctica . In the Thiel Mountains , it rises 2.1 km west of Reed Ridge on the northwest edge of the Ford massif .
It was named at the suggestion of geologist Arthur B. Ford and cartographer Peter Frank Bermel , who jointly led a team of the United States Geological Survey to explore the Thiel Mountains between 1960 and 1961 . Namesake is Staff Sergeant Fred W. Streitenberger of the United States Marine Corps , navigator of a crew of the Navy flight squadron VX-6, which this crew had flown to the Thiel Mountains and other mountains.
