Strike was an English measure of volume and was used as a measure of grain , salt and also for coal . It was also a counting measure.

- 1 strike = 2 bushels = 8 pecks = 16 gallons = 32 pottle = 64 quarters = 128 pints = 3663 Parisian cubic inches = 72 ½ liters
- 2 strikes = 1 comb
- 4 strikes = 1 quarter
- 20 strikes = 1 tun / ton
- 40 strikes = 1 load / load
