The Diedorf hosiery factory was a company from Diedorf in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia.

history

The beginning of stocking production in southern Eichsfeld goes back over 100 years. At that time, stockings and other knitting products were mainly made in home work. With the change in production conditions in the GDR , the small businesses were merged to form the VEB Thüringer Strumpfwarenfabrik Diedorf and part of the VEB Strumpfkombinat ESDA in Thalheim . In 1957, the first children's tights in the GDR were manufactured in Diedorf . The company expanded and employed a maximum of 2,000 people with its parts of the business and produced up to 38 million stockings and tights per year.

With the reunification of Germany , the company was privatized and production was greatly reduced. A successor company, Rogo Thüringer Stockings Production GmbH , stopped production in 2008.
