Sts-Innocents, Conteville

The Roman Catholic Church Sts-Innocents (German: Holy Innocent Children ) is located in Conteville , a district of Valambray in the Calvados department in Normandy .

description

The church was built between the end of the 12th and the beginning of the 13th century as a single-nave, rectangular hall church with an adjoining elongated choir, which is just closing in the east. A small bell tower in the style of a roof turret rises above the west facade, which is only structured by a small lancet window . The outer walls have a remarkable herringbone pattern , and a sawtooth cornice can be found under the roof. The window openings are probably from a later time.

Furnishing

  • High altar from the 17th century with a tabernacle as well as an altarpiece and two paintings showing the Assumption and the angel of worship, classified as a Monument historique since 2017
