Stuck in the Middle with You is a 1973 pop song performed by the band Stealers Wheel . It was written by Joe Egan and Gerry Rafferty .
The song is about a man who sits next to a girl he is in love with. He might have a chance with her, but he's too nervous to take advantage of it.
history
Stealers Wheel was the first British band to win the successful American team Leiber / Stoller as producers. The debut LP Stealers Wheel contained the title Stuck in the Middle with You , also produced by Leiber / Stoller , which was released as a single in February 1973 and sold over a million copies. It reached number six on the US charts and number eight on the UK pop charts.
The song was used in the soundtrack of the 1992 film Reservoir Dogs by Quentin Tarantino . There it is subordinate to a film scene in which a gangster, played by Michael Madsen , tortures a policeman while dancing and singing.
