Student Union of Bremen

The student federation Bremen eV was after the Second World War from 1950 to 1971 "as Bremer Corporate Association student bodies " which represents all students in Bremen.

The student union was a non-profit association in which the general student committees ( AStA ) of the following universities, technical colleges and technical colleges were represented: Bremen University of Education (PH) (today University of Bremen ), engineering academy , seafaring school, social academy and business academy (today Bremen University of Applied Sciences ; departments : Architecture, civil engineering, electrical engineering / computer science, mechanical engineering, shipbuilding as well as nautical science, social affairs and economics), art school and music school (today University of the Arts ), social technical school, flight school, German foreign trade and traffic school (DAV), administration school (today administration school or university for public administration ), customs institute, technical school for chemical and medical-technical assistants.

The student union represented around 4,000 students around 1965. He was based in Bremen-Ostertor in the so-called quarter in Ostendorpstrasse 2/4. The building has since been demolished.

The student union took on the following tasks:

  • Representation of students to the Senate and companies.
  • Implementation of the student youth work program (StAP).
  • Placement of work through “Help through Help” (HdH).
  • Establishment of a student travel service.
  • Efforts to set up a student union and build a student residence.

The most important event in 1965 was the rally against the educational emergency . He ran a small dormitory and a disco known as the StuBu . In the 1950s and 1960s, along with the Lila Eule, the Stubu was a popular meeting place for schoolchildren and students with live jazz music and disco offers. Chairpersons of the student union were u. a. Ulrich Wohlnick, Roland Kutzki , Thorald Schäfer and Hans-Wolfram Heldt. For many years, Ms. S. Rehling was the well-known manager, especially for student trips to Bremen. The student union dissolved when the college of education was integrated into the newly founded University of Bremen and the AStA represented other political interests.
