Step book

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The stages Book (russ. Step Well kniga ) is a collection of highly hagiographic stained Fürstenviten that in 1563 the Metropolitan Athanasios was completed. With him, a linguistic monument of honor was erected for the Moscovite dynasty in the typical pathetic style of the Moscovite period of Old Russian literature , which allows 17 generations of secular princes - from St. Olga to Tsar Ivan IV - to appear in the light of saints.

Model for the step book was the Serbian Tsar book (Carostavnik) of the Serbian Archbishop Danilo from the 14th century . An important source was the report on the princes of the country Vladimir by Pachomi Serb (Logofet) .
