Su Gologone is a karst spring near Oliena in Sardinia in Italy .
description
The source is northeast of the village, on the northern slope of the up to 1463 m high Supramont massif . It is the exit of a huge karst cave system that has been explored to a depth of 135 meters. The water rises from a bluish shimmering spring pot , at the bottom of which there is the outlet, a crack in the limestone rock. The stream that rises there flows into the Cedrino River after just a few meters , which flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea ( Mediterranean Sea ). The karst spring is the most important source in Sardinia with an average discharge of 300 liters per second and has been designated as a natural monument. The flow rate can rise to over 50,000 l / s at peak times. There are three grottos in the immediate vicinity of the source.
