The menhirs Su Para e sa Mongia

Su Para e sa Mongia ( German for  the nun and the monk ) is the name of a menhir couple . The stones are six meters apart, by the sea, at Is Loddis, near Sant'Antioco outside the Parco del Sulcis near the road SS126 in the province of Sud Sardegna in Sardinia .

The larger of the two, about two and three meter high menhirs made of trachyte has an anthropomorphic shape, but is not a statue menhir .

Legend

Similar to the Corsican couple U Frate ea Suora (the monk and the nun) there is a legend about the love between them and the punishment in the form of petrification around the two.
