The nun
Period of Corsican megaliths

U Frate è a Sora (the brother / monk and the nun / sister) are two Corsican menhirs . You are standing in a meadow near Santa-Maria-Figaniella , at the point where the Route nationale 196 from Sartène to Propriano meets the Rizzanese river , at the Ponte de Rena Bianca. The menhirs are 2.6 m and 1.25 m high.

Christianized legends are often associated with the Corsican menhirs . The ideas of a human being are always associated with the erected stones. Here the two monoliths standing close to each other are said to have been lovers who fled the monastery in Sartène and turned to stone for their iniquity during their first rest.

In Sardinia , a pair of menhirs associated with a similar legend is called Su Para e sa Mongia (the nun and the monk).
