Sua Kaan is an Austrian hip hop group from Vienna. The crew in the current formation consists of Aqil (rapper), Mevlut Khan (rapper), Gjana Khan (music producer) and Shino (music producer). About her label Sua Kaan Music 's first studio album in 2010 through its own efforts published it the 30th place Ö3 Austria Top 40 managed. The name Sua Kaan comes from the Turkish word Su for water and Kan for blood.

history

Sua Kaan was founded in 1996 by Gjana Khan, Aqil and Chi-Feek in Vienna - Ottakring . At the beginning the group was just a hobby crew. Over the years the musical interests changed and from that point on, Sua Kaan consisted of the producer Gjana Khan and the rapper Aqil. The duo grew in a while. At that time Mevlut Khan joined the formation through his older brother Sülo "the Joker". Shino, the second producer alongside Gjana Khan, joined the music group in 2007 through contact with Aqil via Myspace and completed Sua Kaan as the last member.

In 2008 Sua Kaan released an EP on Kurzer Prozess for the first time with the support of her label and her band friend Ata-Kaan . In early 2010 finally released their debut album through its own efforts , that was widely available commercially as a first-Sua Kaan release. With this album they achieved a position in the Austrian charts.

In spring 2010, the group released the soundtrack of the same name with a video for the film Kick Off . KICK OFF is a documentary about the Austrian national homeless team on their way to the Homeless World Cup in Melbourne, Australia in December 2008.

As part of the Wiener Festwochen 2010, the music group led a rap workshop “Street Academy” and was involved, among other things, with young people interested in music. As a result, the "Project Newcomer" was launched by the music producer Shino to give an unknown rapper the chance to produce an album.

Sua Kaan was nominated in 2010 for the Austrian music prize “ Amadeus Austrian Music Award ” in the HipHop / RnB category.

The group is socially committed - in 2010 it announced its support for the Ute Bock association , which works for refugees in Austria.

For her debut album “Aus Eigenkraft” Sua Kaan received the Austrian Newcomer Award 2011, meanwhile one of the most important newcomer awards in Europe.

Sua Kaan has produced numerous music videos under the direction of Umut Dağ.

In 2007 the track and video for Balkanaks were recorded and published. Within a few weeks the video was the most watched rap video in Austria. Many politicians saw this song as a call to "street fighting". Newspapers reported a threat to the population from immigrants in Austria. But the artists emphasize in their statement on the video platform Youtube that this video does not contain any selective threatening gestures against locals. The Ottakringer FPÖ politician Christian Hein warned in a press release against "an aggressive video by foreign youths", which "relentlessly shows the state of the district" and shows the artists' contempt for the Austrians.
