Sugarloaf Island (from English sugarloaf ' Sugar Loaf ' ) is a small island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is halfway between Cape Lloyd and Cape Bowles off the east coast of Clarence Island .
The descriptive naming of the island goes back to American and British seal hunters and has been established since at least 1822.
