In the hunter's language, a swell is the name for a swampy depression in the ground. In it puts Red - Sika - or wild boar , especially in dry hot weather, low. The animals cool down and clean themselves of vermin such as deer lice and ticks . This process is called " wallowing ".

During the wet season and rutting season, deer usually first beat the swamp with their forelegs to a pulpy mass, then lie down in it and wallow in it. As they emerge from the hollow, they shake off the dirt and then rub or scrub against trees. In the hunting language this process is called "painting".

With wild boars wallowing is part of the almost daily comfort behavior . They use it for heat regulation and to protect themselves against biting insects with a mud armor. Unlike deer, wild boars do not wallow completely. Your comb will mostly stay dry. Just like the red deer, wild boars often “paint” after wallowing by scrubbing against painting trees .
