The Sulawesi earthquake in 2021 occurred on January 15, 2021 at 1:28 a.m. local time on the island of Sulawesi , Indonesia. It had a magnitude of 6.2 on the moment magnitude scale. Various buildings collapsed, including the Provincial Administration Building in Mamuju , the regional capital of West Sulawesi Province , and the Mitra Manakarra Hospital in Mamuju. The place Majene in the west of the island was severely affected . The epicenter was, according to the USGS 36 km south of Mamuju; the quake occurred at a depth of 18.4 kilometers. More than 40 people were killed.
