Sun Yefang
Sun Yefang ( Chinese 孫冶方 / 孙冶方 , Pinyin Sūn Yěfāng ; * 1908 ; † February 22, 1983 in Beijing ) was a Chinese politician and economist . His real name is Xue Eguo ( 薛 萼 果 , Xuē Èguǒ ).
Sun was director of the Institute of Economics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from 1957. In 1964 he was deposed and from 1968 to 1975 imprisoned as a "revisionist". In prison he continued to work on a criticism of the Maoist economy and on the main features of an economic reform, which in many ways anticipated the course that had been taken after 1978.
