Sunday Mba (born November 28, 1988 in Aba ) is a Nigerian soccer player who became known at the 2013 African Cup of Nations when he scored the winning goal in the final.
Career
society
The Igbo Mba was trained at Pepsi Football Academy and originally played in defensive midfield, now behind the tops. He first played for FC Enyimba (2005-2006, 2007-2008), then for Rangers International (2007, 2008-2009) and Dolphins FC (2009-2010). From 2010 to 2013 he was under contract with Warri Wolves in Lagos and was then loaned to his ex-club Enugu Rangers.
For the 2015/16 season he moved to the Turkish second division club Yeni Malatyaspor . In September 2017, his contract with Yeni Malatyaspor was terminated.
National team
In 2012 he was one of the very few players active in his home country to be named Nigerian national player by Stephen Keshi . At the 2013 African Cup of Nations, he stepped into the limelight with his winning goal in the quarter-finals against Ivory Coast, and his winning goal in the final against Burkina Faso made him known. Mba has been playing for French second division team CA Bastia since January 2014 . In the 2013/14 season he was used 16 times and scored four goals.
In 2013, he was named Nigeria's international for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup , but Nigeria were eliminated in the preliminary round.
