Sunset Rubdown was a Canadian indie rock band from Montreal .
Band history
Sunset Rubdown was created in 2005 when Spencer Krug and Dan Boeckner, the two songwriters and singers of Wolf Parade , wanted to implement their own musical ideas. Dan Boeckner founded Handsome Furs with his girlfriend and Spencer Krug started Sunset Rubdown as a solo project. The first release was in July 2005 the album Snake's Got A Leg on the small label Global Symphonic . Soon afterwards Camilla Wynn Ingr, Michael Doerksen and Jordan Robson-Cramer joined the band. In 2006 the EP Sunset Rubdown and the album Shut Up I Am Dreaming were recorded and released in this line-up. Shut Up I Am Dreaming attracted a lot of attention and received good reviews. In 2007, Jagjaguwar , the band's new label, released the album Random Spirit Lover , which was named one of the best independent albums of the year by the online magazine Filter . In 2007 Marc Nicol joined the band as the fifth member. In 2008 Krug concentrated again on his old band Wolf Parade and brought out a new album with them. After touring 46 cities in Europe, the USA and Japan from September to November 2009, the band broke up.
