The Sunyani Municipal District is a district in Ghana . It is located in the center of Ghana in the Bono region and borders on the districts of Tain , Wenchi , Berekum and Dormaa East in the Bono region and on Asutifi North and Tano North in the Ahafo region . Chief Executive of the 1,289 km² district with 170,731 inhabitants is Kwame Twumasi Awuh .
geography
Located in the southeast of the Bono region, the district has an overall urban structure. The temperature is between 23 and 33 ° C, the district is in the semi-humid zone and has two rainy seasons between April and July and between September and October. An annual average of 945.69 mm of rain falls per square meter; the area is therefore endowed with rather moderate amounts of precipitation in a national comparison.
Moist forest grows in the south, in the northern part of the district the land is overgrown with bush savannah.
Constituencies
Two constituencies have been established in Sunyani District. In the constituency of Sunyani East, one of Ghana's most famous politicians, Joseph Henry Mensah , won the constituency for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the parliamentary elections in 2004 in the Ghanaian parliament. Mensah is a Senior Minister Advisor to the President. In the constituency of Sunyani West, Kwadwo Adjei-Darko also won a seat in parliament from the NPP.
