List of rose varieties

Super Star (syn. Tropicana , TANostar ) was the first bright vermilion rose. The hybrid tea was introduced in 1960 by the rose breeder Mathias Tantau and became an important parent variety.

The rose grows to around 120 cm high and blooms frequently. The strong fruity scented flowers have a diameter of around 12 cm and 30 to 35 petals. They appear singly and in clusters with up to 5 flowers on long stems.

'Super Star' is quite prickly, has large leaves and is hardy down to −29 ° C ( USDA zone 5 ), but somewhat susceptible to powdery mildew .

In 1971 Boerner introduced the Sport Climbing Super Star (syn. Climbing Tropicana ).
